Our Name: Clear Seas Research
People often ask us about our name. Its origin and meaning are straightforward.
Before we had a name, we had a well-defined mission:
- To use our collective research expertise to provide vision in decision-making,
- To provide clear direction on business questions and
- To simplify the complex by offering deep and relevant insights.
Using our mission as a guide, we readily agreed upon an object that symbolizes clarity, depth, freedom from obstacles and transparency . . . .a clear sea.
In seeking to make complex business issues clear, we believe the name “Clear Seas Research” plainly communicates the elements we strive to embody in our everyday work.
Our History.
Although officially established in March of 2006, Clear Seas Research, subsidiary of BNP Media, has been involved in market research since the early 1920’s. Prior to the establishment of Clear Seas Research, the BNP Media Research Group was responsible for conducting research to support various industry publications with: editorial content, insights into reader wants/needs and ever-changing industry trends.
Tremendous changes have occurred in business since these studies were conducted in the 1920’s; companies have become more strategic in their decision-making. This change has resulted in greater reliance on information surrounding brand positioning, achieving a competitive advantage, and developing a brand/product that stands out from the crowd. Likewise, increased product complexity and spend on R&D caused companies to rely on market research to define customer wants and needs, enabling them to more efficiently create and market relevant products and services.
This increased focus on data-driven decision-making, combined with BNP Media’s commitment to help people succeed in business with superior information, resulted in the creation of Clear Seas Research. Conceptualized as a full-service market research organization run by experienced market research professionals, Clear Seas Research currently supports the global quantitative and qualitative research needs of manufacturers in the architecture and construction, food and beverage, gaming, health care, manufacturing, mechanical systems, packaging, and security industries.
Current members of CASRO and ESOMAR, Clear Seas Research is committed to conducting market research using the highest standards of sample selection, data collection, analysis and reporting to provide businesses with actionable information to drive their strategic business decisions.
